2002- BUFFERS interactive solos
BUFFERS - INTERACTIVE DANCE PERFORMANCE from Ariella Vidach on Vimeo.
The new project takes its inspiration from the text of Jean Starobinski’s “Portrait de l’artiste en saltimbanque”, an acute analysis on the figure of the artist that dresses up as a clown to “overcome” the phantoms that haunt him and his time. “A clown,” writes Starobinski, “that becomes the maestro of a mysterious passage and agrees to cross prohibited frontiers, to go beyond, throwing himself on the other side of worldly confines.
This work sets in motion a reflection on the body in art and within our time, redefining the terms of its essence, in this passage at the end of the millennium, in which the body is becoming increasingly negated, tormented; shown often with impudence.
With the perspective of a new identity, the work begins a reflection on a renewed awareness of the body, sought after in the return of the principle functions of the senses.
The artistic intent is to continue with the research of the figure and its unrealised gesticulations upon the absolute expression of freedom, returning to the body a primordial physicality transmitted by the technology.
